Emmy Nominations

Of course, it seems HBO‘s ‘Mildred Pierce‘ is going to be the big winner this Emmy season. This, of course, includes ‘True Blood’ Actress, Evan Rachel Wood’s nomination for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Miniseries or Movie’, for her portrayal of Veda Pierce.

HBO’s hit series, ‘True Blood‘ was able to snag four Emmy nominations:

• ‘Outstanding Art Direction for a Single-Camera Series’ – “Beautifully Broken”, “It Hurts Me Too” and “Trouble”
• ‘Outstanding Makeup for a Single-Camera Series (Non-Prosthetic)’ – “9 Crimes”
• ‘Oustanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series’ – Alfre Woodard as Ruby Jean Reynolds
• ‘Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series’ – “Hitting the Ground”

So, Truebies everywhere will be disappointed that there will certainly be a lack of appreciation for True Blood and its cast, this Emmy season. But c’est la vie!

Natasha Alam to appear at Suite

True Blood: "You Smell Like Dinner"

After a week of salivating, viewers gathered around their TV sets to watch episode two of the newest season of “True Blood“.

For those of us who previewed the episode after last week’s premiere, our True Blood Withdrawal is still in high alert.

It’s not by chance that the episode’s is labeled “You Smell Like Dinner”. There is quite a bit of snacking going on and it seems, Sookie is determined to interrupt all of it. *laughs*

There seem to be a few story lines that have currently peaked everyone’s attention. Of course, topping the list is the highly anticipated “love connection” between Sookie and everyone’s favorite Viking Vampire, Eric Northman. After previous seasons deviations from the books, bookies everywhere are wondering where Alan will go with this couple this season.

Eric, as always is looking good enough to eat this Season, but I do find it charming, that in his own way… he is attempting to woe our fair-haired telepath. Even to the point where he asks her to be his, instead of insisting. Of course, he is still Eric and Sookie is less than pleased to find certain “home improvements” to her home.

Another interesting story line is Queen *coughs* I mean, King Beehl. I hate to admit it, but I’m highly intrigued by King Bill this Season. Bill is proving to be a better Vampire than we all assumed. The rise in power has further advanced the interaction between Bill and Eric, taking it to the next level. While Bill has power as King, Eric still remains somewhat true to himself. From his clear lack of interest in what Bill has to say, to the over exaggerated way he bows, Eric has yet to lose his sense of humor. Though for all you bookies out there, it seems he’s lost something else.

Jason, by far has changed this season and yet, he still remains true to the character we were first met in Season 1. Held hostage in Hot Shot, Jason is confused as to what exactly is needed from him. Some familiar faces reappear in this episode and Jason’s has some of the funniest lines of the evening.

“Okay, two questions. Why is he okay with this? And if he ain’t part of the baby-making, why is he getting undressed?”

Looks like we might be adding one more to Team Were.

Some of the minor story lines are as follows:

• Arlene continues to be scared of her extremely adorable baby, while Terry struggles to remain calm about the situation.
• Tara returns for a visit and gets more than she bargained for.
• Viewers will discover exactly what happened to the broke Queen Sophie-Anne.
• Jesus and Lafayette continue their exploits with newcomer Marnie and her circle of witches.
• Hoyt and Jessica still struggle to maintain their relationship, culminating with Jessica being caught in and extremely compromising position.
• Pam and Jessica, both, put Sookie in her place.

"She's Not There" – True Blood Season Four Premiere

Saucy and sassy Sookie Stackhouse is back. Last night’s premiere brought an entirely new spin on HBO’s hit series “True Blood”. Episode One, titled “She’s Not There”, will have viewers screaming “What the F*ck?!”

The first eight minutes of the show was release over the past few weeks… so no need to delve into that debacle.

So jumping into the black chasm is Alan Ball’s equivalent to Alice falling into the rabbit hole.

After rediscovering her long last grandfather, he goes “poof” into a pile of dust, in the cemetery.  Actually, this scene reminded me of many nights of watching Buffy Summer stake Vampires in Sunnydale’s Cemetery. Random, I know.

After stumbling back to her home, Sookie is surprised to find her home is now no longer reminiscent of the reign of MaryAnn. After workers call the Bon Temps Police Department, Sookie is further surprised that her brother has finally gotten his act together and become a local cop.

What was merely an hour long visit to fairyland for Sookie, was twelve and a half months back on the Human Realm. Relieved to find her alive, Jason and Sookie catch up, briefly. No sooner has she dealt him the news of their grandfather, than she realizes the sun has set. Stepping onto her porch, Sookie is forced to face both Bill and Eric. Both of which, realized the moment she returned into the Human Realm.

Still disoriented by the loss of time, Sookie is not as ecstatic to see either as they are to see her.  According to Eric, everyone but him, believed she was dead. This news isn’t taken lightly, as demonstrated by the look on Sookie’s face as he speaks. But this is not the end of the line for surprises. Eric is easily dismissed by Bill and Sookie is left to wonder what else has changed. When Bill so easily offers to leave her, the hurt is written on her face as she realizes, he has moved on since the last time they had spoken.

The world continues to turn upside down, with the revelation of Andy’s new founded V-addiction, Arlene’s and Terry’s -coughs “Rene’s”- baby ripping the heads off of dolls, and Sam’s new “anger” issues.  Tommy is living with Maxine, and our favorite True Blood couples, Jessica and Hoyt as well as Lafayette and Jesus are clearly on the rocks.

In order to prevent from spoiling episode two, “You Smell Like Dinner”, for everyone, I’m going to bite my tongue. All I’ll say is, Sookie continues to fall further down the rabbit hole. Like with all things “True Blood”, things are not as they seem.

Someone is faking. Someone is cheating. Someone is woeing. Someone is lying.

There will be more blood, sex, fangs and fur flying around this season. Add in the introduction of the witches into Area Five and this Season is already proving to be explosive! Leaving all in its wake, suffering from True Blood Withdrawal and craving more. Fans are salivating for more.
